Information

The 69salon by KORNFELD presents Rhythm & Skin, the first solo exhibition in Europe by Brazilian artist OBastardo (*1997, Rio de Janeiro). The works—some created during his residency with 68projects (October–December 2025)—explore identity, Afro-Brazilian culture, and the visibility of marginalized communities.
OBastardo’s portraits weave together individual and collective experience. Colors, patterns, and symbolic references—such as signs of his Orixá Oxalufan—lend his works spiritual depth. His hybrid technique blends urban visual languages with gestural lines and a rhythmic, vibrant palette. The anonymized figures convey pride, resistance, and cultural rootedness.
His paintings make visible social realities often overlooked in Brazil: Black bodies, the energy of the favelas, and the spirituality of Candomblé. OBastardo transforms these themes into a powerful, poetic visual language.
OBastardo lives between Rio de Janeiro and Paris. Beginning with graffiti, he developed his figurative approach at EAV Parque Lage and later at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. Key exhibitions include Pretos de Griffe (Casa Triângulo, 2021/22), Forrobodó (A Gentil Carioca, 2023/24), and My Black Utopia (2024/25). His works are held in international private collections and represented by Casa Triângulo and A Gentil Carioca.
