Shanee Roe, born in 1996 New York City, USA, is an artist who studied fine arts and animation, attending respected programs at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and Leipzig with mentors like Daniel Richter and Christoph Ruckhäberle.
Her paintings and drawings reference the history of painting from Expressionism to New Objectivity. In her paintings and drawings, created in various cities including Tel Aviv, Leipzig, Zeitz, and Užice, Serbia, Roe meticulously explores interpersonal situations and forms of intimacy in urban and peripheral environments. Her new works depict power relationships ranging from blunt sexuality to intense compassion, while capturing forms of human intimacy from the mundane to the festive.
Shanee Roe has showcased her work in solo exhibitions at The Cabin in Los Angeles, titled “Between You and Me” and Neuer Kunstverein Wuppertal, titled “Unter den Laken”, along with participating in group exhibitions at various prestigious venues such as Luce Gallery in Turin and The Historic Hampton House Museum of Art & Culture in Miami.
